Swiss Plus in London
Swiss Plus made its fifth appearance in London 6-7 November 2003 to continue the dialogue
with the City's financial community launched on the inaugural visit of April 1999. In
addition to meetings with British and Swiss journalists in London, the main event was a
panel discussion at Portcullis House in the heart of Westminster entitled "The Impact
of the Euro on Financial Services Industries - the View from Switzerland". The Swiss
Plus panel consisted of Pierre Mirabaud, Chairman of the Swiss Bankers Association and
Senior Partner with Mirabaud & Cie., private bankers of Geneva; Professor Ulrich
Kohli, Chief Economist of the Swiss National Bank; and Joachim Straehle, Member of
Management Committee Private Banking, Credit Suisse. The discussion was chaired by the
well-known British television presenter Jon Snow. Professor Kohli sketched Switzerland's
macro-economic experiences being surrounded by Euroland while the other panel members gave
an assessment of the euro's impact based on their experiences in their respective areas of
professional activity.

year's event, it was decided to hold a similar meeting again, this time in association
with the Swisspeaks Cultural Festival which is being held in New York City between

Mirabaud (Mirabaud & Cie.) presented the strengths of the Swiss financial centre and
continued the dialogue with New York's financial community. Special attention was given to
