What is Swiss Plus?

Swiss Plus is a partnership of the Swiss financial institutions. Its goal is to show and promote the advantages and framework conditions of the Swiss Financial Center. The Swiss Plus Partners are the Swiss Bankers Association, SWX Swiss Exchange, SIS SEGAINTERSETTLE AG and Telekurs Group. Swiss Plus was set up in 1999.


How does Swiss Plus promote Financial Excellence?

The Swiss Bankers Association has successfully organized events under the Swiss Plus banner in the main European financial centers. High-level representatives of the Swiss government and the Swiss National Bank as well as management figures from a number of banks and other financial institutions have helped to create an informative program of speeches, panel discussions and workshops.


What is the Swiss Value Chain which Swiss Plus promotes?

The Swiss financial center uses a system that fully integrates the three stages of a security transaction on an online and real-time basis. Principal Risk - one of the most significant risks in securities trading - is thus eliminated. The Swiss Value Chain has been developed jointly by SWX Swiss Exchange, SIS SEGAINTERSETTLE AG (securities processing and safekeeping) and Swiss Interbank Clearing AG (payment transactions).


Why is real-time processing so important?

In the international securities trading there is usually a gap of several days between the trade and the settlement. What is more, payments and deliveries also have provisos attached to them. Market participants therefore continually face settlement risks, with transactions being rescinded or buyers failing to make payment in full or at all.
