SBA was founded in the city of Basel in 1912. It is the professional body representing the Swiss financial
centre and counts virtually all banks, auditing companies and securities dealers amongst its members.

Functions
- Represents
members interests vis-à-vis Swiss and foreign authorities
- Promotes
self-regulation in conjunction with the Swiss Federal Banking Commission (the banking regulator)
- Promotes
and oversees professional training in the banking sector
- Promotes
a positive image of the Swiss financial centre at home and abroad
Organisation The
Annual General Meeting takes place once a year at the event known as "Swiss Bankers' Day."
In addition the SBA consists of the following organs:

with branches in Zurich and Bern
